Summer Classics Series:A Staged Reading of Ellen McLaughlin's Lysistrata
Directed by Anna Smulowitz and featuring live, improvised music by cellist Kristen Miller.
Ellen McLaughlin created this script to be performed at Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of the 2003 Lysistrata Project, a worldwide protest against the burgeoning war in Iraq. This is a short, sweet version of the Aristophanes play which was a truly funny, if ancient, anti-war play. Kristen Miller is an innovative composer, cellist and performance artist.
