Volunteer Training: Bird Banding & the Beach

Do you love the outdoors and sharing nature with children? Become an education volunteer at Joppa Flats! Throughout the school year, Joppa Flats staff and volunteers offer a wide range of coastal ecology and birding programs for children on-site at Joppa Flats, at schools, and in various local habitats on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. To prepare our volunteers to assist with these quality programs, we provide complete in-the-field training. Join our crew of trained naturalists and help Mass Audubon with our mission to increase awareness and inspire stewardship of the natural world. Winter Series January 8: Winter Birds & Penguins January 15: Weather & Wildlife January 22: Raptors January 29: Tracking & Nocturnal Creatures Spring Series March 26: Salt Marsh Ecology April 2: Tide Pools of Sandy Point April 9: Maritime Forest April 23: Bird Banding & the Beach All sessions meet at Joppa Flats unless otherwise noted. No experience necessary. You will have three months to complete four full shifts as an education volunteer for Joppa Flats, after which you will receive a full refund of your registration fees.
