The view is magic… The long northern wall of the restaurant is floor-to-ceiling glass facing the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge… a broad span of glittering lights…a sensational view. Much of the food... explores Southern cuisine - defined broadly - and what might be called elevated soul food… I tried a fillet of striped bass encrusted with corn meal and okra. The contrast between the gritty, crunchy exterior and the moist interior made for a very fine dish. Service… was definitely earnest and often charismatic. Both of the waitresses who interacted with our table had senses of humor and senses of just how much conversation we wanted and didn't and when. Since opening in 2005, The River Room has fast become a New York institution, one of the city's most popular restaurants and private party locations. Well-known for its scenic riverbank location with views of the Palisades and the George Washington Bridge, this elegant restaurant can host from 10 to 230 guests at a wide variety of functions including birthdays, sweet sixteen's, corporate parties, press conferences, weddings, bar mitzvahs, cocktail receptions, and charity auctions. Executive Chef Christopher Faulkner creates the finest in cuisine whether for cocktail receptions, buffets or full-course sit-down dinners. He and our banquet manager are at your service to tailor food, entertainment, and beverage service that fit the exact budget and needs of your event.
