Preparing a Chapbook: Exploring Theme, Organization and Publication

Thursday, Feb 28, 2013 6:00p to 8:30p

What makes a successful chapbook? This workshop examines the various ways of selecting poems, sequencing them and tying together a manuscript for publication. Participants will discuss various examples (including Ocean Vuong’s Burnings, Tony Hoagland’s Hard Rain, Valerie Wetlaufer’s Scent of Shatter and Jessie Carty’s Fat Girl). Each poet will have a chance to have his/her manuscript workshopped. The group will also explore avenues of publication for chapbooks and some of their history.
