The Expat Services Department of the GACC was founded in August 2012 and assists German companies with regards to international assignments of employees. We also directly support German expat families in the U.S. with services ranging from intercultural trainings to job searches and relocation matters.
CityKinder is a community website for German speaking parents in the NYC area. Next to our extensive resources & services listing we offer a range of family events, groups, classes and seminars ranging from navigating the NY School system to relevant expat legal and financial advice.
The German Federal Foreign Office has more than 120 employees at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations and at the Consulate General in New York, at least 100 of whom have temporarily moved to New York from the Foreign Office in Berlin or from diplomatic missions in other countries. Every three to four years, our employees along with their families and households change their working locations worldwide. In order to support these employees and their families throughout these constant changes, the Foreign Office has recently created a new Community Liaison Officer (CLO) position. The CLO's task is to assist in the search for a home, in "settling in", and --if desired-- to advise accompanying partners looking for work.
