Born June 8th, 1958, rock star Prince came into this world as Prince Roger Nelson; he was named for the Prince Roger Trio, a musical aggregation for which his father played. In light of his carefully cultivated public image &#8212 the arrogant aloofness, the covey of bodyguards, the overemphasized androgyny &#8212 it is sometimes easy to forget that Prince is uncommonly talented; in addition to his singing and composing skills, he is proficient at two dozen musical instruments....

Punk rock revolutionized music in Great Britain during the second half of the 1970s, but the movement had exploded, imploded, and been seriously diluted by the start of the 1980s, so that former punks could be found playing in bands as fresh-faced as new romantics Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet, and as crusty as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal acts Iron Maiden, Tygers of Pan Tang, and Tank....

Erykah Badu
Erykah Badu Remove performer from this event
She grew up listening to '70s soul and '80s hip-hop, but Erykah Badu drew more comparisons to Billie Holiday upon her breakout in 1997, after the release of her first album, Baduizm. The grooves and production on the album are bass-heavy R&B, but Badu's languorous, occasionally tortured vocals and delicate phrasing immediately removed her from the legion of cookie-cutter female R&B singers....

Feb 29, 2008 - YogiBear on Mary J. Blige
Ms. Blige

I saw Mary J. Blige in concert at Wango Tango (convinced to go by a teenie bopper friend) two summers ago. I have to say that she was one of the best performances (after Kanye West). Despite the fact that she is older than all of the other headlining performers, she exudes an incredible amount of passion and energy while on-stage! It was highly entertaining and inspiring.
