If you have the urge to get away, accompanied by a desire not to leave behind some of the greater amenities of civilization, the nearest thing to an ideal retreat is the Black Bass Hotel. Whether you come for lunch, dinner, or a weekend, it is like being in another era. The hotel and its dining room provide a breath-taking view of the Delaware River. The dining rooms include the Stone Room, Lantern Room, Jackson Room, and a beautiful screened in Veranda. The Main Lounge boasts an unusual pewter bar that once graced the famed Maxims in Paris. The Wine-Cellar Bar and Canal Room have a wonderful view of the Delaware River and Canal. Being the, these two rooms are the hotel's original dining and bar area (dating back to the 1740's) and are now used for private parties. Guests will be delighted with the cuisine, although you may find it difficult to choose from such tempting dishes as Coffee Lacquered Duck with fresh ginger pear chutney, Charleston Meeting Street Crabmeat, and other dishes. Head Chef John Barrett develops the seasonal menus with an eclectic flair, and his New American cuisine is sure to offer something for everyone. Whether you're planning a night out, a weekend, or a vacation, the Black Bass Hotel will entertain you in the tradition of truly gracious hospitality. General Manager Michael J. Reichert and the rest of the staff at the Black Bass Hotel look forward to seeing you soon.
