The goal of the museum is to promote the understanding and appreciation of art, architecture, and other manifestations of visual culture, primarily of the modern and contemporary periods, and to collect, conserve, and study the art of our time. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation realizes this mission through exceptional exhibitions, education programs, research initiatives, and publications, and strives to engage and educate an increasingly diverse international audience through its unique network of museums and cultural partnerships.
The museum's remarkable design was created by the renown architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

The Guggenheim Museum's building is an incredible masterpiece by Frank Lloyd Wright. The interior space spirals around and around, giving the visitor a striking illusion and a unique way to view various works of art. I personally, have more of an appreciation for the artwork at MOMA, but the Guggenheim would be the second one on my list of places to visit while in NYC!
