Summer Snow? with Photographer Martha Madigan

Summer Snow? features images of snowmen in various states of melting, as well as “snowmen” made of sand, capturing the Hawaiian tradition of making sand people, or sand wahine, to decorate and celebrate on Christmas. For more than thirty years, Martha Madigan has been experimenting with new and old photographic techniques to observe, honor, and preserve nature. Madigan has long photographed snow people as she has seen them over the years.
