Tenor saxophonist & clarinetist Tobias Delius was actually born in london, but has been an integral part of the Dutch scene since the early 80s. He has been a member for 20 years of the Icp Orchestra
(the Dutch Instant Composers' Pool led by Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg), and was awarded in 2004 the 'Boy Edgar Pris'--the most prestigous award for inprovised music in The Netherlands.
GEORG Graewe is a German pianist coming out of more of a modern-classical-improvisation school than out of a Jazz school, although he cites Cream and Fats Domino as two of his greatest influences alongside Schoenberg and Pierre Boulez, and also despite the fact that he has made a stellar recording of Thelonious Monk's
music (Impressions of Monk, with Marcio Mattos and Michael Vatcher) that could turn the heads of many another Monk tribute album.
