Blending elements of grindcore, death metal, black metal, hardcore, and bluesy, groove-oriented Southern rock, Lousiana quintet Soilent Green has grown into one of the most distinctive bands in the U.
Scum of the Earth
Scum of the Earth Remove performer from this event
The strong White Zombie/Rob Zombie influence that permeates Scum of the Earth's material is no coincidence; the alternative metal outfit is led by Riggs, an in-your-face singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer who is best known for the six years he spent in Rob Zombie's employ.
Kingdom of Sorrow
Kingdom of Sorrow Remove performer from this event
Another side project from Crowbar's Kirk Windstein and Hatebreed's James Jasta, Kingdom of Sorrow was formed in 2005, when the two found they had a desire to pay homage to some of the heavier legends in the genre, and add their own individual stamp to the style.

I dig the old skool hair

These guys are opening up for Dethklok this Summer. I tend to prefer old school long-hair metal with sustained screamed notes, as opposed to crew cuts and the guttural grumbling popular in modern metal.

But Soylent Green is a bit of an oddity. Their vocals are the modern unintelligible throat grumbling, but the lead singer has old-skool long hair down to his waist. He head bangs and gets those locks spinning like Sebastian Bach, back when Skid Row was the cat's meow.

I saw them at the first ill-fated Dethklok SF show (where the fire broke out), and while I only saw 3 or 4 songs, I was thoroughly entertained by the mix of old skool flair with modern metal.
