Ride the world-famous New Hope Valley Railway!
Step back into yesteryear, and ride a REAL train as trains used to be. A ride is both entertaining and educational for everyone. While visiting us browse the outdoor and indoor museum areas, visit our Museum Store, watch the huge garden railway operating, have a barbecue sandwich or other tasty delights, and enjoy the live band. There is something for everyone! The New Hope Valley Railway is located just nine miles south of downtown Apex off Old US1 in Bonsal, NC. Trains depart the depot at 11:00AM, 12:15PM, 1:30PM, 2:45PM, and 4:00PM for a one hour round trip through the woodlands of Wake and Chatham Counties. See our website at www.nhvry.org for further details.
Directions:
Take US1 south from the Raleigh/Cary area to Exit 89. Turn right at the top of the exit ramp. One mile later, turn left onto Old US1 in the historic community of New Hill. Two and one-half miles after that turn you will see a railroad bridge over the road ahead of you. Just BEFORE passing the bridge, turn left on Bonsal Road, and make an immediate right turn into the parking lot. A footbridge over Old US1 will take you into Bonsal Yard from there.
