Lipscomb Universitys annual Lighting of the Green

Nashville’s own Amy Grant hosts the free outdoor holiday concert. This year’s performance will also feature contemporary Christian artist Ashley Cleveland; Mandisa, of American Idol fame; The Martins, Christian music vocal trio; L’Angelus, a Cajun inspired band; Scat Springs, founder of the Scat Band and classic rhythm and blues singer; Michelle Swift, contemporary Christian singer; the Lipscomb University brass quintet; and the Lipscomb student choruses.

Festivities begin at 4:00pm and the concert… Show more begins at 5:30pm in the Allen Arena Mall on the Lipscomb campus. Pre-concert activities are located in the Bennett Campus Center and include free photos with Santa. Food is also available for purchase at the Bennett Center’s Chick-Fil-A, Papa John’s Pizza, Blue Coast Burrito, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Zebi’s and Starbucks. The event will also include Merry Marketplace, a collection of holiday vendors with a portion of the purchases benefiting scholarships to Lipscomb. The Marketplace will take place in the Allen Arena lobby and concourse beginning at 4:00pm.

The evening will conclude with the lighting of the 33-foot tall Christmas tree in the Allen Arena Mall. This year’s honorary tree lighter is Mary Hance, known to Nashvillians as the beloved “Ms. Cheap” of The Tennessean.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a gift of canned food or cash for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Guests are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the concert. Handicapped parking will be available in the Allen Arena parking garage.

The event will be held rain or shine.
