In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher's uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, 'Religulous,' directed by Larry… Show more

Boasting an acute wit, a mane of gray hair and an incredulous smirk that punctuates his political punch lines, Maher has made a career out of ridiculing those in power. He spent the late 1970s and early 1980s honing his comedic skills on the stand-up circuit and his tenacity paid off with supporting film and TV roles, although the projects were often pretty low-rent (D....

I love this guy! I don't always agree with him, but I find a lot of his insights to be amusing and intelligent. Even when I disagree, I see where he is coming from.
I've always enjoyed his shows, and his stand up is usually fresh and riot, as it closely revolves around current events.

One of the silver linings to the last seven years of disastrous politics in the US has been the rise of left libertarian political humorists. Perhaps foremost among these is Bill Maher. Unabashedly provocative and antagonistic he is a force to be reckoned with -- you won't agree with everything he says (he'd likely be pissed if you did) but you will think about what you believe after hearing him.
