Bill Maher

Sunday, Mar 18, 2012 8:00p

For the last fifteen years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on 'Politically Incorrect' (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last seven years on HBO's 'Real Time,' Maher's combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him twenty-one Emmy nominations. I love this guy! I don't always agree with him, but I find a lot of his insights to be amusing and intelligent. Even when I disagree, I see where he is coming from.

One of the silver linings to the last seven years of disastrous politics in the US has been the rise of left libertarian political humorists. Perhaps foremost among these is Bill Maher. Unabashedly provocative and antagonistic he is a force to be reckoned with -- you won't agree with everything he says (he'd likely be pissed if you did) but you will think about what you believe after hearing him.
