The time is July 4, 1944. The place is a dilapidated boathouse in rural Missouri. Over the course of 97 minutes, the courtship of Sally Talley and Matt Friedman sprouts and blooms. The play is “Talley’s Folly,” winner of both the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as Best Play. It is the second play in Lanford Wilson’s “Talley Trilogy” that began with “Fifth of July.”
