A Nightmare on Elm Street
Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man, Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. For those of you "In Love" with the origional Nightmare and with no ability to appreciate a movie for it's own merits this movie is not, I repeat NOT for you. Now for those of us who can watch a movie without comparing it to the origional at all turns this movie becomes what I believe the origional should have been. A scary concept with little to no comedy mixed in the horror. Sure there are the few iconic scenes that pay homage to the origional, but the director made Freddy a scary character! That is what I wanted all along. The jokes helped the first one appeal to a broader audience where as this movie will appeal to the hardcore horror fans and of course their unsuspecting partners they choose to take to the movie with them.

I have a very sick and twisted sense of humor. Alot of scary movies do not get to me at all! But I will admit, I did jump at some parts that were unexpected but overall it made me laugh. It was the smart commentary through-out the movie that keep me going. I am a huge horror film fan and I will say the ending to this was not expected. It had an upper-hand twist to it that the older movies did not. I muchly appreciate the re-make and return of Freddy. Must he never die hahah.
