MacGruber

In the decade since his fiancee was killed, an Army Ranger, Green Beret and Navy SEAL rolled into one (Will Forte) has sworn off fighting crime, preferring instead to rock his mullet as a man of peace. But when his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth, steals a nuclear warhead, only MacGruber and his crack team of experts (Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe) are equal to the task of bringing the villain to justice.

There are bad movies, and there are bad movies...

Now, I'd like to start off by demanding an apology from the producers.

We all deserve that much.

This movie is so bad I actually want whatever money I contributed to this heap of crap to be rescinded and returned to me. My money, a representation of my time, is my vote for quality of movies, of which this BS assault on my intelligence and senses does not deserve.

It took from me 88 minutes of my life I will never get back. I could have done something better with my time, like, but not limited to:
pulling out my toenails,
breaking every bone in my hand one at a time,
eating a kilogram of ear wax,
wallowing in a giant bathtub full of circus peanuts and poison oak,
injecting hot sauce under my skin,
seeing how long I can hold bleech in my mouth,
finding out how much fire ants actually hurt,
or any combination of two or more of the above.

I could have done any of the above things multiple times and had more fun than I did watching this film. This film is literally a giant middle finger to movie goers. Whoever made this film is a very mean spiteful person that's trying to prove some point; what that point is, is beyond me.

It baffles me that no one was overseeing this movie and killed it in production. And there's no clearer message that Hollywood is running out of ideas. As well, it's very clear Hollywood has given up on thier audience. I watched this film and honestly felt insulted that they think this is what the people want. And if it is... and if they're right... I've got some serious planning to do because the Zombie Apocalypse is upon us...

Extremely stupid, and extremely funny.

This movie appears to be divisive. It seems as though, like "Napoleon Dynamite", it is impossible to tell whether or not someone will like it. I'll try to explain why I did.

The movie is stupid. Very, very stupid. This might be a problem if not for the fact that the film is self-aware: it knows it's stupid. It's well aware that you can't make a serious movie based off of a 30 second long recurring sketch off of Saturday Night Live. As a result the film goes for the throat: it simultaneously attacks MacGuyver, shows like it, and virtually every action movie released in the late 80s to mid 90s. It's SUPPOSED to be bad - that's the point.

The whole movie is chock full of ironic humor and some people just don't seem to find it very funny. The humor comes from the fact that this is the kind of dialogue that you saw in bad action films, only they take the cheesy lines, put them in a car, and then send the car speeding eighty miles per hour off of a cliff into burning wreckage. MacGruber is also the only one making the lines. Unlike every action movie, most everyone else doesn't think he's such an awesome badass action hero - they think he's a moron.

The film is unbelievable. Jorma Taccone (of The Lonely Island comedy group famous on YouTube) co-wrote and directed the film, and as a result I imagined that the film would have some ridiculously over-the-top moments, but he managed to top my expectations. Unlike most movies I found myself completely clueless as to what I was going to see next, because the amount of brazen stupidity going on could catch anyone off guard.

Top it off with the fact that Will Forte (MacGruber) is really, really good at acting like an idiot and you have a great movie for fans of awkward/ironic humor.

Wow...

This movie was amazing in the literal sense. I was amazed when I found that they could make a 2 minute skit into a feature length movie, and then I was amazed at just how bad it was. That said, it would have been infinitely worse! That hardly justifies making the movie though.

I'm pretty desensitized, so i don't get shocked easily, but there were several points in this movie where I was surprised they went there. And then after seeing where they set the bar, I was surprised where they chose to hold back. This was a truly horrible movie. It is only because it will make every other movie this summer shine in comparison, that I am giving it two stars.

I constantly found myself laughing, but it was never at jokes, so much as the absurdity of the whole thing. If you really have nothing better to do, you should still not see this movie. We had to choose between this and the 4th Shrek movie. These aren't good choices, but we figured it couldn't hurt to see something that wasn't trying to milk an idea so hard it had made it to a movie title that they felt the need to indicate it was the "Final" movie of the series.

Now I wish I had chosen differently.
