In 480 B.C. a state of war exists between Persia, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Greece. At the Battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas (Gerard Butler), king of the Greek city state of Sparta, leads his badly outnumbered warriors against the massive Persian army. Though certain death awaits the Spartans, their sacrifice inspires all of Greece to unite against their common enemy.

This film work on the fight scenes is remarkable; Zach's crew has defined how medieval action and sword fights should be filmed and I felt as involved in the battles as I did with Saving Private Ryan.

Everything about this movie was over the top, which is perfect. The visuals were so beautiful that if the rest of the movie - characters, dialogue, story, costumes, etc. - were not also over the top, then the movie would have lagged.
This is my favorite movie of 2007 and the year isn't over yet.
Lena Headey is awesome as Queen Gorgo. She ranks right up there with other strong female characters in action flicks, like Trinity and Lara Croft, and there are not that many.

300 projects an almost surreal sense of what war is really about....futility, loss, anguish and ultimately for most, death! Fantastic!!!!
