Where the Wild Things Are

Feeling misunderstood at home and at school, mischievous Max (Max Records) escapes to the land of the Wild Things, majestic -- and sometimes fierce -- creatures. They allow Max to become their leader, and he promises to create a kingdom where everyone will be happy. However, Max soon finds that being king is not easy and that, even being with the Wild Things, there is something missing.

people dont know 'Sierra Hotel India Tango'!

1. This movie is NOT intended to be a children's movie. It's a movie about childhood.

2. The emotional depth in the movie reflects the confusing transitions of a normal child. In other words the drama is necessary in exemplifying the theme of the movie.

3. You can't expect a movie to hang on all of maybe 200-250 words of a children's book. There had to be some adaptations in order to make a movie with length and content depth.

For those who really appreciate the book they should have no problems in appreciating the movie. Just because some people don't understand the movie doesn't mean that the people who have an inkling of knowledge and understand art when they see it are going to sit back and let the idiocracy of the world, who coincidentally are more entertained by Disney movies with a 'happily ever after', judge the movie in such a shallow way. Obviously those who think that way have had an insanely easy childhood with absolutely no confusing emotions and an artificial definition of love.

Where the Wild Things Are

The movie was interesting and kept me watching from the beginning to the end. Thought the characters had a good dynamic and was a good interpretation of the book.

Well Made but...

Okay, first off, this has been one of those odd childhood trauma things for me, mainly because the book made absolutely no sense what so ever. Sure Carol IS max in some wierd way, btu the fact remains that this is what happens in the book/movie:

1) Kid flips out and trashes his sister's room.
2) Kid bites someone
3) Kid runs away form home
4) Kid screws with a colony of monsters.
5) Kid lets all the monsters down.
6) Kid ditches monsters cause things got too tough to deal with.
7) Kid returns home to mom and cake.

Wiskey Tango Foxtrot?

kid was a menace... Destroys peoples' stuff, bites people, then runs away and gets cake... My brother said it best: "Yeah, I read that book too and it was like were there pages missing or something?"

Visually the movie was awesome. Sound was good, even the soundtrack was decent. Plot as confusing as it was was absurdly depressing.

NOT A KIDS' MOVIE

odd movie

Do not take your kids to see this movie. It is not a feel good movie. The kid is ignored, acts out, runs away at night and hides. Comes home when he gets good and ready to a hot supper. Like I said, odd. I think my mother would have had a thing or two to say, and not just lay there looking sleepy.
