Skyfall
When James Bond's (Daniel Craig) latest assignment goes terribly wrong, it leads to a calamitous turn of events: Undercover agents around the world are exposed, and MI6 is attacked, forcing M (Judi Dench) to relocate the agency. With MI6 now compromised inside and out, M turns to the one man she can trust: Bond. Aided only by a field agent (Naomie Harris), Bond takes to the shadows and follows a trail to Silva (Javier Bardem), a man from M's past who wants to settle an old score.

The opening sequence of this film is a superb chase. The first hour is action, tension and fun. Then very unfortunately they ran out of ideas. When Bardem shows up on his island we get a very bad Goldfinger...not arch not convincing this smirking villain is not remotely credible as diabolical or a computer genius. The story goes from not credible to maudlin as we have Bond and M fleeing this one man terror army so frightening we are to believe that they must flee to Scotland and hide.
I'd go on but it really was so good a piece of chase and action against the first opponent that one wished the film reel broke there and did not go on to such silliness as Bardem giving Bond a gun!!! or somehow anticipating he would be chased underground just at the moment to blow a hole and drop a train on Bond and other special effects driven plot. Set your alarm and leave at 60 minutes and you can give this collapsing movie a higher score.
