Born under unusual circumstances, Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) springs into being as an elderly man in a New Orleans nursing home and ages in reverse. Twelve years after his birth, he meets Daisy, a child who flickers in and out of his life as she grows up to be a dancer (Cate Blanchett). Though he has all sorts of unusual adventures over the course of his life, it is his relationship with Daisy, and the hope that they will come together at the right time, that drives Benjamin forward.

Benjamin Benjamin Benjamin,
My sweet buttoned Benjamin,
Once so old, now so young,
Makes me sing a song once sung.
How it makes me want to change my life,
How it makes my heart feel such strife,
Tugs at the strings that pump my blood,
My tears flow out in a wicked flood.
Groovy Movie

Loved it. The effects were so good they were largely invisible. The story was truly moving, and I think it's some of the best work Brad Pitt's ever done. It's quite long, and many people with shorter attention spans will get pretty antsy by the end, but I think it's worth it. Just make sure you don't drink too much coffee before you go. :-)

Yeah it was okay. I did see the bad effects. The story line was like Forrest Gump. I thought it would be fantastic, but I truly didn't love it. Plus the 400 pound popcorn eating slob kept throwing popcorn at the screen, and a few pieces hit my head. I moved seats and the movie got quiet. I thought Tilda and Brad could have gotten more into the movie. They seemed bored. 2 stars is all it was worth. The worst 6.25 I have spent in a long time.

The movie was visually great and sociologocially revealing. The portrayal of New Orleans during the early 20th century was very interesting to watch. Also, the fact that the movie showed interaction with so many older people was great, as we rarely get to see this on film.

Why did Oprah convince me to see this movie? I find it hard to believe she enjoyed it. Very boring, predictable, cheesy and 3 hours long. Don't waste your money. Even if you are a Brad Pitt, sorry--YUCK---fan...It was suppose to have these GREAT special effects but you could see it was all digital and it was not smooth, not like the special effects, in lets say, Brads one of a kind, sexy, beatiful girlfriend's movie Wanted, now those were special effects. That was an awesome movie, Brad is one heck of a lucky dude, and yes I'm a girl. Back to this movie though, it bit. Terrible. Don't waste your 3 hours or money, I really wanted a good cry movie, but all I cried about was the money and time I wasted. Truly you guys it was bad.

Benjamin Button was born with a physical malady that ostracized him from others, he experienced the horror of war, inherited a business, crossed racial barriers, fell in love with his childhood crush, and there was a magical hummingbird thrown in for good measure.
You've seen this movie before, In the sentence above, just replace "Benjamin Button" with "Forrest Gump" and replace "hummingbird" with "feather" and you saw this movie 15 years ago. There, I just saved you $10.50.
This movie is designed to pull at your heart strings, and maybe I've just become a cynical old man, but I just found it bland and predictable, Forrest Gump comparisons not withstanding.
The make-up/special effects are excellent, so I could appreciate the film from the technical aspect. Best Picture it's not; but Benjamin Button should be recognized for it's visual achievements.
Maybe my expectations for this movie were too high. I guess really, since its David Fincher teaming up with Brad Pitt again, I would see something more clever on screen.
I mean, these are the guys who brought us "Fight Club" and "Se7en." I don't need a head in a box or lipo-soap, just be less predictable.

Just when you think Hollywood has come up with every storyline imaginable, out comes Benjamin Button, the chronologically-altered life of an old man who dwarfs into a baby boy and lives his life in reverse.
For those expecting to see Pitt in every scene, forget it. Due to disguising costumes and talented makeup, he does not really reveal himself the way we know him to look today until close to the movie's end.
The storyline grabs your attention from the beginning. Although extremely far-fetched, you stick with it, wanting to see how reality unfolds for this awkward baby as he progresses through time aging in reverse. Perhaps the most poignant aspects of the film are those relating to World War II and his trials at fatherhood, where he makes the ultimate sacrifice.
A bit on the long side, but entertaining nevertheless.

Great Movie! I thought it was clever and moving. Im not a Brad Pitt fan, but this was undeniable a very good movie...I would highly recommend spending the ungodly price for a movie these days, two thumbs up!

Ok....anyone who called this the "Forrest Gump" knock-off, in my opinion, obviously didn't watch it. The only part that resembled that movie was the back and forth from past to present of telling the story. So if that's the case, Titanic was a "Forrest Gump" also.
Anyway, I thought it was very well written. Even though the movie was long, it actually HAD a story through the entire thing. Unlike the Dark Knight which was also long. There wasn't anywhere they would or could have shortened it really. Keep in mind it is a fantasy movie.....(obviously as he ages backwards), but the thought prevoking taste you're left with after the movie, was awesome!! Anyone who watches it should come away from it with something. It was funny, sad, sexy, and made you re-evaluate your life. I give it a 10!! Way to go Brad Pitt!

I go to the movies for entertainment. To escape for a couple of hours into a different world. I like action films and I also like films
that are poignant and thought provoking, like "Good Will Hunting"," Dead Poets Society", "Man without a Face" or "August Rush"
This is a great movie with all the elements
necessary to keep you enthralled. If the story doesn't hold your attention, which it should, the special effects and great acting should fill the void.
If you are looking for sex, violence, stupidity or another bang bang shoot up murder mystery than skip this movie.
The movie is based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. That alone should give you the notion this is not another dumbed downed for the new X Generation.

I was disappointed with this movie, perhaps because it was hyped as being worth waiting in line. There are some precious moments in this film; that is true. But, the story is dragged out often unnecessarily and those moments of sheer boredom tends to kill the story line. There is great acting, from an extremely talented cast. I would recommend seeing this, but lower your bar on expectations as this movie may not deliver the promised "movie of the year" quality you are expecting.
