Robert Neville (Will Smith), a brilliant scientist, is a survivor of a man-made plague that transforms humans into bloodthirsty mutants. He wanders alone through New York City, calling out for other possible survivors, and works on finding a cure for the plague using his own immune blood. Neville knows he is badly outnumbered and the odds are against him, and all the while, the infected wait for him to make a mistake that will deliver Neville into their hands.

I didn't watch the movie, but it is a remake of The Omega Man (1971), starring Charlton Heston.

Will Smith never disappoints me. He is the reason I saw this movie. I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't like it. The only negative thing in my experience was being hasseled by theater staff for bringing in my own ginger ale/glass bottle at the VERY end, which made me miss some of the details. Course that was MY fault,& I'm going to read the book! And I plan on seeing the flick again when it comes out on DVD as well. VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING! I haven't stopped thinking about it since I saw it. By the way, everyone else there also seemed to agree & I did not hear any negative comments on the way out...

Awesome-est movie in the whole flipping world. It is so awesoem! It makes you lol, then cry, and then the ending makes your heart mush. It is scary and laughable and enjoyable all at once. The best movie, and will smith definitly worked this one. It rocked out so much and trust me, dont listen to the bad comments on this movie. They are definitly neither vampires or zombies, just really infected freaks. But still a good movie!

An incredibly intense movie! If you like edge-of-the-seat-thrillers, then you will love this. Will Smith was excellent, it made me laugh and cry, and overall it was a very well-made movie.

This movie left me thinking more than the average movie. I am not much of a monster movie fan, but I like Will Smith and that brought me to this flick. I think this was a monster movie with a deeper message and not all people are open to deeper messages, so it might be wasted film.(the movie has some pretty gaping holes in the plot in my mind but it was interesting to think about how I might react in his situation)

for anyone who says this movie was a disapointment, or the worst movie ever, or a cheap hollywood budget cut peice of crap, you are sadly WRONG. i went to see I AM LEGEND 2 sundays ago and i still can't stop thinkin about it. it was so good, that i'm makin a home-made version of it with my friends. GO SEE THIS MOVIE. in my opinion, will smith is the greatest actor ever born. he was amazing in this movie. it was action packed, some-what funny, exhilerating, thrilling, there aren't enough words to describe I AM LEGEND. stay for the whole movie. don't listen to all the brain dead, mentaly unstable, retarded, fools who say it sucks. its a must see for anyone.

What a terrible movie! Even the media won't give it a review. Go see any other movie but this one. I recommend "Charlie Wilson's War."
I am Legend has a lot of potential but Hollywood got greedy and only hired one actor Will Smith and a dog. The dog will win an Oscar. Will Smith does a good job for the script he has been given.
Although I am Legend has been a blockbuster..this movie will go down as one of the worst ever made.

Completly originally with a star center piece like will smith. An amazing tearful experience with everthing from laugh out loud comedy to heart wrenching scenes. And obviously action and susupense and horor that fills the entire theater. Not a film too miss!

I saw this movie last night and cannot stop thinking about it. That is one of the definitions of a good movie to me. One that sticks with you. Of course it is well done.

I thought it was ok, my friend thought it was excellent. My friend likes movies; I was comparing it to the book. The book was better.
Some action, some gore. Some really lame CGI deer & lions. Reasonably scary creatures. I did jump once.

I read the previous reviews and thought twice about going to see "I am Legend". I'm glad i decided to go. Will Smith is proving that he's worthy of Leading roles and great scripts. The movie kept you on the edge until the very end. The movie sold out Friday & Saturday in my town. The Sunday showing was near to capacity.
Go see the flick if you're a sci-fi junkie. It's worth the $8 - $10 bucks...

Totally disappointed in the movie. Will Smith was great with what he had to work with, but the story line could be told in one sentence. "Watch 28 Days Later"
Not one good comment from other viewers on the way out, just total disgust, everyone telling people in line for next viewing to save their money, go see something else. Alvin and the Chipmunks would have had more value.
Too bad, Will Smith is a favorite and this was a poor choice, he'll have to work hard to overcome this one.

If you're gonna see this movie, see it for the right reasons. The right reasons include but are not limited to:
*Post-apocalypse stuff fetish
*Zombies!
*Vampires!
*Arguing whether or not those things were zombies or vampires!
*Best Supporting Dog
Reasons not to see this movie include:
*Your group of moviegoers includes some jackass who will never shut up, ever.
*You don't want to hear some jackass arguing with everyone over whether those things were zombies or vampires.
*You like your depressing movies to end depressing.
*Deus Ex Machina.
All told, this was a very excellent First Half Of A Last Guy On Earth movie. The end? Not so much. Too much god, and as someone pointed out it basically, in the end, turned into the plot from the beginning of 28 Days Later. If you want to experience the movie as it should have been made, leave after Will Smith's truck flips over and pretend he dead. Otherwise the ending is far too upbeat.
Bleh. Vermont. I'll take the Zompires over that any day.
