On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.

Liked the movie, could have been not as long. I wasn't empressed with how they made us pay extra ea. ticket because it was 3D and then charged us $2.00 ea. for the 3d glasses. If I would have known that I would have concidered just watching it in non 3D!!!! It cost like $30.00 for 2 people. Just to much money. I think.

I found Avatar to have excellent special effects. As with all of Cameron's movies this is another excellent one. I truly enjoyed it even though it was a bit long. Good and entertaining. Will watch it again.

We saw it and my wife love it - but I did not. Twice, I slipped the 3-D glasses off (made in China? wake up USA!) and saw little difference, so they were $2 each pretty much wasted. Obviously, I wasn't impressed with all the supposedly wonderful effects. And the story was no big deal, either.
We were paid in by another, else I'd say we wasted our money.

Having seen this movie twice in 3-D, IMAX at Santikos, I left each time filled with wonder. We have seen a new art form folks. Movie-making has reached a new level. Not only was the imagery breathtaking, there are many levels to this movie which is a modern, archetypal journey that probes what is is to be human.

In response to fellow critics who have taken personal offense to this film, you've missed the point. First, as hard as I looked there was not the slightest hint of American military markings or references on any of the uniforms or hardware. Rather, it was repeatedly stressed by the central character that they were "hired guns", i.e. ruthless, morally vacant mercenaries like BlackWater, which, frankly, most of the world consider to be the scum of the earth. Secondly, perhaps these critics are hyper-sensitive about depictions that are "a little too close for comfort"? Defending illegal, protracted military occupations will always be an uphill fight. You'd think we'd keep that in mind as we won our own freedom in asymetrical conflict. To those who've not yet seen this picture, go now. It's an important, beautifully made love story with several important messages. Enjoy.

A beautifully made movie with an agenda of slamming the US Military, US foreign policies, combined the with political correctness of protecting the environment to the ulitmate extreme. Very predictable movie. You know the ending very early in the movie, so leaving half way through you will merely miss fabulous film making. Phenomenal 3D effects gives the movies 2 stars. It makes you wonder if the film writer and producer are wanting Americans to join our enemies to kill American soldiers. I left with a sick feeling in my stomach with such an attack on America.

The story line was a twist of Fern Gully and Dances with Wolves. Not much originality there, but was fast paced and kept you awake. Since I liked Dances with Wolves, and well, Fern Gully was fine, I give it a 4 1/2.

I have watched this movie twice and thought the same thing. Great effects and filming, I loved the storyline and the movie kept me interested both times. I'm glad I went and saw this one before it was to late

Amazing effects and filming. Sure to win a few Oscars.
Acting is great and the story line is very timely.
