The Testament of Dr. Mabuse

Criminal mastermind and madman Dr. Mabuse (Wolfgang Preiss) has finally been locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane, yet the expertly planned heists that are his specialty continue to occur. Inspector Lohmann (Gert Frobe) believes Mabuse is somehow still in command of his vast crime empire, yet when he visits the institution, he finds Mabuse engrossed in pages of seemingly nonsensical notes and charts. Mabuse's psychiatrist insists the man is harmless, but Lohmann isn't so sure.
