Hardworking and ambitious, Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) dreams of one day opening the finest restaurant in New Orleans. Her dream takes a slight detour when she meets Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), who has been turned into an amphibian by evil Dr. Facilier. Mistaking her for a princess and hoping to break the spell, Naveen plants a kiss on poor Tiana -- thereby turning her into a frog as well. The pair hop along on an adventure through the bayous to seek the help of a powerful voodoo priestess.

I'm taking my girls to see this movie today and was reading these reviews to hear what others had to say about the movie itself, not to hear reviewers critique why other views didn't like the movie (i.e. derek73). Let's not assume we know the "real" reason (color of the character) why people don't like the movie. We all know what happens when we assume!

This was a most interesting movie. I was quite curious how Disney was going to bring together the White male/Black Female aspect of the movie as that is still a touchy subject for America as a whole.
Disney's choice was to turn them both into frogs, demonstrating the need for us to get to know people before we make a judgement.
Truly however, it was a good movie and one worth seeing. Some of the scenes shyed away from disney's recent caliber and pick up a hint of the old Rescuers and other Disney classics. The kids loved it and if you are one who is moved by films it may bring tears! Enjoy, this is worth seeing in the theatre!

Ok. Heres the deal. This movie was amazing! A-MAZ-ING! I loved it! The singing, the dancing, the characters! It had a great, developed plot line, showed lots of good moral stories, and showed a somewhat real-er princess. Princess Tiana is a princess that you can really connect to because she is an average girl with good work ethics living in a real, somewhat modern city. American girls will love her. And all the stuff about the color of her skin is rediculous. If you are that concerned about it than you need to look at yourself and ask yourself what is wrong with you--not the movie! And the whole thing on vodoo. I brought my three year old brother with me and he loved it. He said "bad man" when the vodoo guy came on the screan. If your child is scared of it than maybe they are a little too sheltered. Sorry. But its the truth. The movie was amazing and I am definatley buying it when it comes out on dvd! Super cute and fun! Totally LOVED it!!!

I'm 12 and a half, I am an African American young lady, and I am very annoyed that some people think The Princess and the Frog was bad, or evil. My family and I saw the movie and we're going to go see it again because we enjoyed it that much. I have a little sister who is 5 years old and she loved it. I think that you need to understand that Princess Tiana lives and New Orleans and that's why the movie has Voodoo which is a part of New Orleans culture. I don't like it when you say it has killing because: IN MULAN THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS WERE KILLED IN THE WAR, AND IN POCAHONTAS JOHN SMITH GOT KILLED! IN PRINCESS AND THE FROG, REY IS A FIREFLY AND IN POCAHONTAS AND MULAN THOSE WERE PEOPLE NOT INSECTS!!!! Although, I was sad when Rey died too! I FEEL PEOPLE ARE DISCRIMINATING AGAINST PRINCESS AND THE FROG SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE'S AN AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUNG PRINCESS, AND SHE KNOCKING ALL THE OTHER PRINCESSES OFF THE CHART. Sometimes adults should let their children have a mind of their own and not fill it up with evil thoughts and your opinion about this movie........

Well i usually say nothing if i have nothing good to say. But i'm afraid this time I have to speak up on the well being of our children's minds.
The movie is: BAD. For ANYONE to be watching. Its full of Evil Spirits, witches, demons, killing. Nothing like a DISNEY movie should contain!
My grandson is 4. I had to take him out of the movie 1/2 way thru, maybe b4 that, coz i didn't want him having nightmares, or be effected in anyway. I'm a real believer of Demons, that they exist. They're in this world & working against Christians @ all times. No need to INVITE them into our lives, by going and seeing a movie that involves them.

I have not seen the movie yet and i definately will! I have seen and my girls have seen almost every single disney movie out there! Disney creators have wonderful imaginations and for this show that looks so cutr to have so much critism just ecause the little princess is black get over it I didn't see anything when mulan or pocahontas came out!! Adults need to grow up seriously and just enjoy the movie as a child would i can tell you none of my children will even realize she is a different color then belle arieal snow white or cinderella and they will love it just the same quit making this an issue!!! we have enough prolems in this world lets not create more!!!

This was an awesome movie. I really appreciated the detail and animation. People should enjoy (and allow children to enjoy) movies for what they are, entertainment. This movie is truly one of the best of Disney's collections. It's depiction was better than Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and even all Harry Potter (non- ending collection). 2 thumbs up for Disney

Too much voodoo for a children's movie.

This movie was a great one! My children were quiet the whole time and but very excited too. I think this is one of Disney`s Best. I hear some people talking about the witch craft and evil spirits in the movie. Some one on this site explained how Disney shouldnt have evil spirits or with craft in this movie because it scared kids. Well I think that person (momof1) is full of it. To my knowledge Disney has a witch in Snow white that peformed magic. Also sleeping beauty had a witch to perform magic. Momof if you dont like "THE CHARACTER" and you know what I mean just say so. Here I will help you say it. "I MOMOF dont appreciate Disney making their characters Black' There you got it off your chest. Just admit it! the movie was good. Also because you wont buy it on DVD, I will buy two copies. There! Merry Christmas!

This Disney feature was delightful. The story told was especially heartwarming in that it was a distinctly American tale, set in the unique city of New Orleans, circa 1920s. The characters sing and dance with entertaining color and artistry, and Randy Newman's music is a wonderful match to the soundtrack. The darling African American girl makes a fine princess, but all little girls seem to enjoy the film, the young girls and boys in the theater we saw the movie in certainly did. The family values of hard work and perseverance make a healthy moral theme, but this lively story is mostly just good family fun!

My daughter and I were really looking forward to a new disney princess movie and were very disappointed in this one. The witchcraft, voodoo, and evil spirits/demons from the other side, should not be put into a childs G rated disney cartoon. It was very disturbing to see. The cartoon had good animation and other characters, and could have been a really good movie if they had not put in this type of evil stuff. Usually these movies just have a bad guy, but this time it was just too much for a child's princess cartoon. We also were not impressed with the firefly getting stomped on and killed. It is upsetting for young children. We heard some children had to be taken out of the theater after seeing that. We won't be purchasing this movie to add to our Disney collection, when it comes out on DVD. It just did not leave a very good feeling after seeing it.
