May 31, 2011 - Jennavive. on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

*** This review contains spoilers ***

These movies have been questionable for 6 years now. Rob Marshall proved that a new director isn't going to fix anything, most scenes were so dark you did not know what was going on. I admit there is less CG then the last 2 films but the story is terrible and with out any character development.

I knew film wasn't going too as good as the first Pirates movie, you could see it from the trailer. Not only is it not near as good as the first but the second and the third movie out to this film

The first 40 minutes are spent reintroducing the same characters with out any new developments and for some reason Jack has lost the Black pearl, again. Barbosa had command but lost the ship to Black Beard, as you can tell already the story was dumb and pointless lacking any acting ability. Even Johnny Depp’s performance was shockingly remedial.

Penelope Cruz assumes Sparrow's identity and uses here female powers to convince every Pirate in London to believe her, pushing the rumor to capture the genuine Jack Sparrow's attention for his help in finding the fountain of youth.

I really feel like they only made this to make some money and they did not have any fresh ideas. This is not a decent Pirates flick and shame on Disney for allow this to be exposed to the public. Go watch the 2D version if anything and seeing it in 3D is a waste of money. Better yet, wait for it to appear on Netflix Instant Play.
