With the world now aware that he is Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from all sides to share his technology with the military. He is reluctant to divulge the secrets of his armored suit, fearing the information will fall into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle) by his side, Tony must forge new alliances and confront a powerful new enemy.

First and foremost, there was an actual cast in this movie. Most movies are following around 1-2 characters for about 90 minutes and the interactions between the two, with background characters usually being interchangeable, if not left out completely. This movie had a full cast of characters, each played very well and very uniquely.
The banter between characters was a little better paced in this iteration, it felt like it flowed better. The only gripe I had was the way Tony Stark was basically having a midlife crisis. But I couldn't even fault the situation really, cause it wasn't the typical "I might die one day time to party cause I only live once" kind of BS. He actually asks advice throughout the process, and based on the suggestions of his peers decides to try and live a little. The way it was played out really in a wierd way makes Tony a little more human. (Ironic) He does what Guys do when their relationship with thier wife/girlfriend is on the rocks: they go to thier single friends for advice... Never the best idea, but the one that happens naturally.
Anyways... I could defend all the points critics keep coming up with. But you just can't change peoples' minds. It was an action movie done exceptionally well with a good story, good antagonists, and good heroes.

i'm finding it harder and harder to sit down and enjoy a comic adaptation these days. iron man 2 is a great way to counteract that feeling. the storytelling was great. rourkes character was allowed the space to develope and tied well into tonys story arc. all of the little plot points gave good breaks in the action so each scene hit with full impact. the fx were top-notch, ever actor did their jobs, every character flashed their weaknesses. i dont know what more a spoiled jerk could ask for.

This was a really fun movie, with alot of characters, and not quite enough time to fully develop them all. Most of the "bad guys" in this iteration could have used a little more back story, and you could easily miss the name of Scarlet Johansson's character if you weren't paying close attention.
The fact that they just replaced the first Rhodey with Don Cheadle, seemed a little odd, as he looked nothing like the first guy, short of being black, but that may just be a contract thing. It was just something that was a little off putting about the experience.
Sam Rockwell, was amazing in this movie. He was a dick, but I kinda want to be a weapons dealer now, because clearly with Tony Stark and Justin Hammer running around like rock stars, it just looks damn fun.

I had high hopes for Iron Man 2 - I thoroughly enjoyed the first one - but the film fell short for me in nearly every aspect.
The movie tries to take nearly everything that made the first film so great and then jack it up to eleven. It almost felt like their goal was to create a film so unbelievably over-the-top that it would be the superhero movie to end all superhero movies. The problem is that it all feels disjointed. All of the actors are near-perfection (Mickey Rourke can do no wrong), but Robert Downey Jr. seems a bit off of his game and the script is sorely lacking. The first movie was just straight-up fun: it was over-the-top, quirky, unbelievable, but it was impossible to take your eyes off of it.
This movie is fun, don't get me wrong. It's fun for roughly the first thirty minutes. The problem is that, about halfway in, the movie stops being Iron Man and starts being Days of Our Lives. Tony Stark has daddy issues, Ivan Vanko has daddy issues, and Pepper Potts and "Rhodey" are having their lives messed up by the issues Mr. Stark has. It felt like half of the film is just every character whining about every other character or their father, and it gets a bit old having all of this just thrust upon you out of nowhere after the first movie is all about action and very little drama.
And what does one get after a huge build-up of unnecessary drama close to the entirety of the movie, with virtually no action whatsoever? A rushed and incredibly cheesy action sequence at the end followed by another cheesy scene (which I will not spoil) which apparently just wraps up everything into a nice little package. Nothing is really solved, and nothing really changes.
I'm really disappointed, because I wanted to enjoy this movie very much. The problem is that this isn't the sequel to Iron Man: it's an entirely different film that doesn't feel anything like the first. It tries to do entirely too much and I left the film feeling exhausted. The chances are that I'm in the minority here, and that's fine (as I can fully understand why people would like it), but the whole film felt off for me and I'm really hoping that the inevitable Iron Man 3 ends up going back to the roots of the first: having a good time, blowing stuff up, and letting other movies worry about drama.

Not as clever or original as the first one, in my opinion, but still worth watching. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell make entertaining if rather unimaginative villains. Robert Downey Jr. Is always terrific. Gwenyth Paltrow is underused. Scarlett Johanssen looks great (and her stunt double is insanely agile). The visual effects are terrific. But the end is completely anticlimactic, and the plot is a bit confused. Still, I quite enjoyed it, but after rewatching the original movie a couple of weeks ago Iron Man 2 definitely suffers by comparison.

I must say that i was surprised at this movie. The pacing of this was top-notch with scenes being just long enough to get the plot moving, therefore getting you into the action element quicker.
Robert Downey jr. once again plays iron man and i must say he brings a charm to the character that is just so great to watch.Scarlett johansson Sizzles in this movie and of course Qwyneth Paltrow is just adorable.
The action the Actors and good productionvalue really help make this movie a good hit.but the cake in my mind is the Soundtrack.AC/DC does most if not all of the soundtrack and i gotta tell ya that it works to near perfection.
A must see 4 action or comic book fans.

As with any comic book turned movie plots are always good prevailing over evil. With the addition of Scarlett Johanssen, Sam Rockwell, Samuel Jackson, Mickey Rourke, and Don Cheadle this movie has a spectacular all star cast! Other than that the movie is a good way to start off the 2010 summer movie season...not great but good. It does have all the elements to be a good movie...good acting, action, humor, and story line, enough to please people that like this type of movie genre and I would recommend it for a family outing.

It's an obvious twist to have Iron Man used in the US. Though the plot was extremely predictable, I must say all to there I enjoyed it more than the first. That may go with saying I'm a huge fan of nearly the entire cast not only Mickey Rourke, Robert Downey Jr., Mr. Cheadle but of course Samuel L Jackson, whom can’t help but play himself in every film. And we can’t forget Sam Rockwell also makes a stunning performance as the politically incorrect corporate douche.
The action was paced well enough that you were sitting tapping your toe through the slower cheesier joke sequences. All in all I found this film very entertaining, full of the normal obvious puns and plenty of god old "American" action. A great film for the whole family.
