Ahh this takes me back.

So we have here a horror movie set in a mid-western style town(nothing special about that) but that is the strong point of this movie.it has that classic feel of many of the older horror movies.

This is however it's Drawback

its all been done before and just feels like it needed to be set in a different location(but i am a realist and realize that may have been the only good local available).

but in fairness this was a good movie with a very good pacing that got you into the story quickly and kept you entertained. The leads for this movie Played there roles well and really drew you into the plot.you couldn't help but sympathise and relate to them thru-out the movie.

Overall a good watch for any classic or survival Horror fan.

A Classic Classic

Most movies these days are 'modern movies' that pay homage to the classics in some quirky way. The Crazies is straight up, hands down, a classic horror movie, and done right from start to finish.

The only difference is that most(not all) horror movies usually have a really vague build up where nothing happens for a while then suddenly you see small things happen that lead to some kind of massacre. Not here, you pretty much jump right in and they fill you in on the details as the story progresses. The main characters are constantly being nailed from all directions from multiple antagonist groups. And every turn and moment where you have a "Don't open that door" or "Don't go back for them" moment you're proven wrong. There's pretty much no way to win. On that, the most effective part of this movie is the layering of stress. Zombies trying to kill you, government trying to kill you, everyone around you is either undead(basically) or killed... I think you'd be a little stressed. Coincidentally.. The major symptom of the "zombie" disease is a heightened level of aggravation. So.. the characters are already under tons of stress, and if they show that they are, they might get killed under suspicion that they are infected.

Paced really well, and Holy smokes... If you're a guy, this is definitely the perfect movie to bring a jumpy date to. just make sure you're not jumpy yourself!

Should it be seen on the bid screen? This is one of those "Why not" moments. I don't see any reason not to, other than price. There are some elements that really stand out when on the big screen, and being in a dark theater with a bunch of people is always a plus.

Side note... Went to see it over the weekend, and it just so happened there was this old guy with the bladder the size of a walnut that kept getting up during the movie and walking in the front row. The dude looked like a friggin zombie from the movie. I could swear everyone was creeped the hell out by him as much as me.
