The Revenge

Raptusiewicz (Janusz Gajos), the head of an aristocratic family facing financial difficulties, schemes to marry wealthy widow Podstolina (Katarzyna Figura). Meanwhile his enemy, Milczek (Andrzej Seweryn), plots to marry his son, Waclaw (Rafal Krolikowski), to Podstolina, unaware that Waclaw loves Klara (Agata Buzek), Raptusiewicz's niece. Eager to win over the widow, Raptusiewicz sends down-and-out nobleman Papkin (Roman Polanski) to plead his case, only to have the messenger fall for Klara.
