Don't waste your time!

I am a deeply faithful christian, and I completely "got it". Although the premise was promising, I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Kissed $110 goodbye and left terribly disappointed. The general plot could be interesting but the movie just dragged on. Denzel didn't say much, he just walked a lot and killed a few scumbags. Too much blood and not enough good acting. Jackie from "That 70s Show" is second to Denzel and she did suprisingly well in such a serious character.

Samurai Western on a Baked Planet.

Easily the best movie I seen in 8 months. Why only 4 stars? Well, it's the best movie for me, and I don't think it's going to appeal to the masses as much as it should. I might be underestimating the population as a whole though, and for that I apologize.

This movie IS a religious thriller, that's not annoyingly religious. Set more like "Mad Max" meets "High Plains Drifter" as done by Akira Kirasawa... This film really strays away form the trailers/previews. What I thought it would be was more of a Action Packed, Fast Paced movie where God himself is writing a new verse about humanity after the apocalypse. What I got was a rather neutral artfully done well paced movie about faith in the face of the evils of man. But it's NOT preachy. There's arguably as much anti-religion sentiment in this film as there is not. The bible is refereed to as a weapon, one that uses the weak and feeble minded as ammunition. Personally that gives me a chub. But it is equally potent pushing the meaning of faith, and the actual message of the bible rather than the warped interpretations that are derived from it. Even a staunch atheist such as myself found the message very very fitting and not insulting in the least. THIS is what religion should be. Not mega-churches milking their income form the poor and the weak, but one man's belief and trust in a higher power.

Does it need to be seen in the theaters? Maybe not; the big screen really lets the secondary character shine though, that being the environment. The music is awesome in the literal definition, but other than that, there's no real need for the massive sound system provided in most theaters. Go catch a matinée if you don't have a big screen sure, but otherwise, sit down and watch it alone when you can concentrate on the movie.

Nice

Ok this in my opinion is one of denzels best performances by far.he brings a great on screen presence to the film even though he doesnt have a ton of lines.his dialogue is sufficient he is a man that only speaks when needed and doesnt rattle on and on needlessly. The earliest parts of the film we're in my opinion the best with the middle being ok and the end sort of dragging it down a little.all in all a good solid film with a few gripes but nothing major. This is a action film, but not so much as to be weak on story, there is a good story with a bit of religion sprinkled over the top for good measure.so i feel this movie deserves a watch in the theaters or a rental when it comes out.it won't be for everyone but should do fairly well.

The Book of Eli

A different acting role for Denzel Washington. The movie kept my attention thru out the movie. The ending was a disappointment, to abrupt. Thrre-an-half stars, or a B+ I could have waited until this one came out on DVD before watching it.
