In 1947 Chicago, Polish emigrant and bar owner Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody) hires a blues combo that includes guitarist Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright) and harmonica player Little Walter (Columbus Short). Waters' and Walter's success leads to Chess' management of stars Etta James (Beyoncé Knowles), Howlin' Wolf (Eamonn Walker), Chuck Berry (Mos Def) and others. Inevitably, business and personal lines blur as the sometimes-turbulent lives of the musicians play out.

As a fellow filmmaker I appreciate the honesty of this production. Its the story of Chicago Blues. This music morphed into rock and roll. The actors playing Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Leonard Chess were excellent. Beyonce ,who also Executive Produced , was a sexy and scary druggie Etta James.
This film shows what a small film ,with great music, can do !!!

What an amazing cast! I caught a pre-screening and I love the story. It covers the foundation of music at its best, unlike much of what is being released today. Adrien Brody lights up this film and Beyonce proves herself as an actor.
I HYPED it on EverHYPE and scored it 93%, which I think is very accurate.
