Black Swan

Nina (Natalie Portman) is a ballerina whose passion for the dance rules every facet of her life. When the company's artistic director decides to replace his prima ballerina for their opening production of "Swan Lake," Nina is his first choice. She has competition in newcomer Lily (Mila Kunis) however. While Nina is perfect for the role of the White Swan, Lily personifies the Black Swan. As rivalry between the two dancers transforms into a twisted friendship, Nina's dark side begins to emerge.

Black Swan

Loved this movie. It could have been a little less obscure and vague, but the sets and costumes, cinematography and musical score, plus acting (of all cast members) were stellar.
Natalie Portman looked so convincingly skelator.

Thrilling movie

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this film as I had not read anything about it. I'll have to admit that during the first 30 minutes or so I wasn't thrilled but then Natalie Portman really brings you in and makes this a very good movie. Her portrayal is awesome and the evolution of her character will certainly hold your interest.

A tasteful & successful thriller

Darren Aronofsky presents us with a dark thriller based on a ballerina who is obsessed with her shot at being cast as the leading role with her dance company. Even with the predictable plot points, Natalie Portman's incredible acting ability (which has been hidden underneath the shroud of blockbuster titles for a while now) & brilliant story telling kept my attention, even when I wanted to turn away.

This was a tale about transformation, which allowed Portman to begin as an affectedly proper, sexually inept & moral lady, only to find herself getting in touch with her darker side. This film was imbued with unsettling sound effects, cringe worthy visuals & amazing actors. My only real complaint was that there was no real background or history behind the characters & that they were merely reactive objects. I can understand that this may have been to allow the viewers to interpret & speculate the what drove these characters, but there could have been more insight into the human condition.

Now that I'm done nitpicking, go see the movie.

NataliePortman is amazing

When I first hear about this film, I really wanted to see it and then I saw the trailer and felt that it was going to be extremely cheesy. I wasn't prepared for the dazzling, nail biting film that was before me this evening, I couldn't have comprehended the dark poetic story of Swan Lake. Granted I have never see the ballet, which may have swayed my opinion but non the less the films shots, acting and suspense where not comparable to my predictions.

Natalie Portman stretched herself above and far beyond in this roll, she bought the psychotic and obsessive, driven aspects of one persons goals in life to an extreme and deadly reality. Portman brought herself down physically and mentally down for this role, even moment of it was witnessed and believe. Not only by myself.

The shots and movement of this film were breathe taking, astounding to wrap your head around. Pure moments of 'how the heck did they shoot this scene'.

It was the first film I've seen in a while that I got the feeling that as I was walking out I wanted to walk back in and start all over again.

Elegant. Dirty. Fantastic.
