Evil Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) lusts for the beautiful wife of a London barber (Johnny Depp) and transports him to Australia for a crime he did not commit. Returning after 15 years and calling himself Sweeney Todd, the now-mad man vows revenge, applying his razor to unlucky customers and shuttling the bodies down to Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), who uses them in her meat-pie shop. Though many fall to his blade, he will not be satisfied until he slits Turpin's throat.

I usually don't like musicals with the exception of Moulin Rouge and Sound of Music but this was incredible. Songs were entertaining and darkly funny, Johnny does an excellent job, and Burton of course delivers with his twisted fairy tale sets.
I was thinking these two were slipping, what with Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride but this is a great comeback putting them both back solidly in the game.
It is pretty graphic but more in a "Sin City" cartoony way...but it's Sweeney freakin Todd!! what did you expect?!

This movie wasn't the worst movie ever but it was a huge disappointment My mom and I thought it was a waste of money and they drew out that cutting the neck thing and what ever happened to his daughter and the sailor they should've atleast shown them going away together good luck with other movies

If you don't like to see dripping blood, gushing blood, and more blood, then perhaps you should stick to a stage production of the musical.
Otherwise, the dark colors of the movie, great acting by wonderful actors and actresses, a good musical all sum up to a great movie.

I knew this movie would have blood and stuff it was totally unnecessary to "amp up" the murder scenes like they did, the beautiful dark look to the film was great, but nothing other than that, I would not recommend this movie anyone.

Well, not really incredible, they can do a lot with computers these days. But this is an excellent movie. Tim Burton's restrained use of color and impeccable sense of timing make this a dark and hilarious movie. About slitting throats.
Seriously, I've never seen a movie with this many slit throats. The montages are awesome. And drippy.
Having not seen the actual musical, I can't say if this is a good adaptation or not. However, all the actors are excellent, including Sascha Baron Cohen. He's clearly capable of works far beyond his interview-show gag characters like Borat.
Definitely don't let your kids see this one.
Always remember:
Save yourself; shave yourself!

Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, all work together to create a wonderful version of this great and dramatic musical. May help introduce a whole new generation to Stephen Sondheim's work.
