If the title Predators pulls you to the theater like a magnet then be prepared. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. I entered the theater not expecting much & boy did I get it. If you take a chick & don't plan on watching much of the movie then this flick is going to be right up your alley. W#hen the previews are better than the movie be prepared to burn your money !

This Was a dash of everything

So Kiddies we have Predators a mediocre action flick if ever there was one.The plot drags its feet at times. The characters Are interesting but nothing all that spectacular. On the plus side There seemed to be a Big effort put into making this movie a nostalgia Freak. the music, sound, even the return to the jungle was ripped straight from the original.
So that is why it sucks and why it was good.
iF U LOVED THE ORIGINAL:u will get a warmfuzzy feeling out of this movie.if u havent then u won't be able to appreciate the apparent attempt at major nostalgia. So go see if u want just to see screaming, guns firing and people and aliens killing each other.cuz thats all predators is.

Homage? Reimagining? Sequel?

First off, no BS, this movie opens with a bang. I thought that it'd hit the ground running and just go. But it didn't. And I am glad. Like the first Predator before it, there actually was a plot, but I am sure that will get lost on the masses (To be honest, that's ok).

The entire film I kept asking myself, "Okay sure, they will probably wander through the plot picking off the Predators one by one until it's a one on one fight at the end. But... how the hell are they going to get off this planet?" That sense of 'there's screwed... and then there's SCREWED' just lingers through the film.

Paced well for the most part, only one scene really should have been left out, but all in all a good job. People died that you didn't expect to when they did, and others survived much longer than you'd expect them to. It really was a luck of the draw, there wasn't an established hierarchy.

My only plot gripe really was the Doctor's inclusion in this. And that he had preexisting knowledge of the local plants. It could however be overlooked that on this planet, it's a game preserve and they might have relocated plants or had them pooped out as seed from various animals brought there over the centuries.

My only other real gripe is that the sets seemed a little cheap at times. I wish they could have done more with the jungle.

Really worth seeing if you're at all a fan of the first movie. As it's been said ad-nausium this movie really is the true sequel to Predator.

See it - but don't tie your hopes to the orginal. To a true die hard fan, you will not be disappointed, but neither will you leave saying that was the best one yet. It wasn't but not as bad as Alien vs. Predator. I still have no idea what Fishburn was doing. Predictable but OK. I will not rent the DVD.

A step up from Aliens vs. Predator, not nearly as great as Predator

I love when a movie that probably should have become a rad B-movie gets the funding of an A-list flick! Therein lies the beauty of the Predator franchise.

Explanation: Humans who have spent their days "hunting other people" are dropped onto an unknown jungle planet with some guns, where they must battle a species of aliens who hunt for sport & adapt quickly to situations. That being said, know that you aren't going to be viewing a mentally stimulating film about cultural history. You're watching a game of Cat & Bigger-Cat.

The casting fit into their stereotypical roles very well. You have an honorable Yakuza, a comical & easily disturbed murderer, a wise & deadly man from Mambosa, a Russian commando with a big gun, a cowardly doctor whose role on the planet seems uncalled for, a member of the Mexican drug cartel, an insane scavenger/survivor who has formed a niche & a black ops sniper who know more than the leads the others to believe. Oh yeah, also Adrian Brody playing the part of Bad-Ass Adrian Brody!

We have a list of characters I would expect in this kind of movie, then we have Adrian Brody. Don't get me wrong, he did a good job. It was just a little strange to see him portray his tough "I only care about surviving" cliché, & I have to admit the Batman: Dark Knight voice didn't make me think, "damn he's rugged!" But he is a great at what he does, if anything he seemed to struggle because he was cast in a movie where the actors aren't really supposed to act!

The only other qualm I have is that part way through, Predators ceased to be a suspense-thriller-action flick & became a straight up action flick. This transition came after a break in the intensity, where all of the plot is essentially dumped on the viewers as we sit in a waiting room. I brought up many of the ideas & plot points mentioned during that time to my friends afterwards, only to realize that they lost focus during that time. It did feel as if I was being lectured by the movie.

With the negative out of the way, I can say I got exactly what I wanted! Predators & people trying to kill each other with some one-liners, blood, gore, swearing & special effects. Sure it wasn't perfect, but I was amused by the Grindhouse-esque entertainment.

I'm absolutely certain they made this movie so they could make the video game.

First off, I love the Predator franchise, simply because I'm a dude. That's how it is.

That being said... I don't think this was nearly as good as it could have been. Sure, there were some twists and turns in the plot that were unpredictable if you squint, but it was pretty straightforward.

Adrian Brody can't do badass. I'm sorry, but he can't. Not the gravelly voiced I'm-so-cold-blooded kind, anyway. He would've been better as... actually I haven't seen him in any other movies so I don't know what he's good at. But a different sort of badass is what he'd be good at, I'm certain of it.

They could've made way better use of Danny Trejo. I was very disappointed with his death.

The mid-game wildcard character could have had a much greater impact on the movie, but no, that would make it *good*.

And while his character and main scene were pretty awesome, come on... "Yakuza guy finds samurai sword." Seriously? How long did it take the writers to come up with THAT? I never would've expected the Japanese guy to find a samurai sword! Whoooooa.

By my calculations, one could watch BRODYQUEST 26.75 times in the amount of time it takes to watch Predators. It is my personal belief that one would be far better served by this endeavor, and might possibly achieve satori in the process.

Go forth and seek enlightenment:

Fun action flick.

If you can turn off your brain for two hours (and if you're a Predator fan then you can) then you'll enjoy this film. It feels eerily similar to the original Predator (in far more than just location), though Adrien Brody and his Batman impression still can't stand up to Ahnald.

Don't get me wrong - I LIKE Adrien Brody, and I think he's an amazing actor. The problem here is that he IS an amazing actor, and the Predator line of films aren't good. There's no "acting" to be done in them; they are 80s macho action flicks and they're meant to be so bad that they're good. Adrien Brody is too good of an actor to be able to be fully believable in this role. Asking him to underact would be like asking Arnold or Bruce Willis to...act. They're just not good at it, and there is a sect of movies designed for either of those roles. This is not the one that's designed for him.

Having said as much, the film is still solid. It's not got nearly as many cheesy lines as the original, but it has enough ridiculous action scenes to keep you entertained. Some of the CGI is a bit lacking, but one also wonders if that's done on purpose as a nod to the original as well. The film has a predictably fantastic 80s ending, and all in all it's a great popcorn flick. If you're looking to turn off your brain and have a few mindless hours of fun then you'll definitely enjoy this film.

Though the film was obviously cheesy and extremely predictable, it was saved by special effects and extreme death sequences. Opening with situations that would terrify any human, dropped into an unknown jungle with strangers that appear to be able to hold out their own with heavy artillery and of course have no recollection of how they came to be in there current environment.

Obviously this isn’t a film for the entire family though it definitely offers the adult campy satisfaction, and appeases the ladies with the “Dark Knight like” voice of Royce (Adrian Brody) and a strong female lead Isabelle (Alice Braga). The director, Nimród Antal, attempted a minimal shock value with a cameo which added a touch of comedic relief and later a “surprise twist” in an extreme attempt to seem unpredictable.
Antal attempted to add nuances to the story with new toys and skills but stuck to the same basic story line of hunt or be hunted.

I haven’t even see most of the Predators films and though I found the film extremely conventional, I still jumped in my seat at the idea of knowing something was coming. The film over all was entertaining and sufficed the “hunter gathering” needs of every predator.

I knew I should have listened to the critics and chosen another movie instead. I have never watched the original one, but if the original is as boring as this one, I don't understand why they waste money remaking it. The first hour is so slow, I literally fell asleep and woke up to a round of gun fires. Adrien Brody is not cut for this role. In the end, none of my questions were answered. What a waste of time! Definitely skip this movie
