Fashions of 1934

Businessman Sherwood Nash (William Powell) and designer Lynn Mason (Bette Davis) come together for a scheme to sell knock-off dresses to boutiques. When the stores find out, however, Sherwood gets out of it by saying he will go to Paris and secretly copy European designs for them. Once there, he finds out a famous designer's "duchess" fiancée is his friend from New Jersey, and adds her to his scheme. But Lynn, who loves Sherwood, is losing patience and considers leaving him if he continues.
