Kick-Ass

Using his love for comics as inspiration, teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) decides to reinvent himself as a superhero -- despite a complete lack of special powers. Dave dons a costume, dubs himself "Kick-Ass," and gets to work fighting crime. He joins forces with the father/daughter vigilante team of Big Daddy and Hit Girl, then befriends another fledgling crime-fighter called Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), but a scheming mobster soon puts their alliance to the test.

Better than expected

What a interesting movie..Humor is rampant in this movie if u have an ear for it.u have to be in a certain mood to enjoy all the jokes and comedy thrown at you but thats a minor deal.

Whats really makes this movie i think:is the blending of the action and comedy, the action scenes are done so well and serious effort was made to make then enjoyable to watch.so many action comedies just paste the action there to give u a minor distraction in between the jokes.Kick-ass actually took time to get the action right.

The comedy is mood based in my opinion, you will laugh and chuckle constantly if u have the proper mind set for the movie.

A nice enjoyable movie.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

It's not going to win any awards, but "Kick-Ass" was exactly that. The movie, while gratuitously violent and over-the-top ridiculous, somehow manages to bring all those childhood daydreams of being a superhero to life. Watching a small child doing it in "real life", all while cursing like a sailor, is supremely entertaining.

As another reviewer said, the movie can drag on from time to time. Namely, all of the moments where people are not dying. One might say that it's a product of our society's debilitating ADHD pandemic, but I'd chalk it up to the fact that the scenes just do not feel as inspired when you've been watching a film that's so over-the-top. After you've watched an 11 year old girl chop peoples' legs off and call them names I wouldn't let my grandma hear it's a bit difficult to take a heartwarming moment seriously. It feels forced, and movies like this one ought to take a hint from Shoot Em Up and realize that once you go down the path of ridiculousness that you should simply not turn back. I feel the movie would've been significantly better than it already is had they decided to go down that route.

All in all it's a very entertaining movie even if you're not going to take much away from it. Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) did a fantastic job for being so young and I hope that she doesn't end up going the route of so many child stars because she seems to be very good at what she does. Check out the film if only to watch her character steal the show from the moment she's introduced.

An amazing blend of action and comedy!

I really enjoyed this movie! There was nothing about it that really made me think, but I'm happy to have something with so many jarring moments in it were I didn't constantly remember I was in a movie.

I am really looking forward to seeing Chloe's future acting career because she really did an amazing job in this movie. The hit girl character was fun, and her action was just ridiculous. If you come into this movie expecting anything realistic, you're gonna be disappointed. Despite people having a sort of luck that I would consider a real super power on it's own, you get slapped in the face with some realism pretty hard from time to time.

It is perhaps because the movie doesn't fully commit to either complete fantasy or complete realism that this succeeds for me. The fact that I am still shocked by action in the middle and end of the film after watching equally ridiculous action at the beginning is a real testament to how well they reeled me back in.

Weak

When I first saw the trailer for this film I was extremely intrigued. Watching Nicolas Cage shoot a little girl (Chloe Moretz) in the chest and witnessing her manipulate a training session to her own benefit. This film had it's share of action and blood splatters but that wasn't enough to save the slow paced sequences in between.

The concept of being a superhero in the "real world" was portrayed exactly as it would seem, to be completely out of site and mind. The kind of dream you don't share with the general public, for fear of being subjected to heavy medication from your therapist.

You spend most of your time rooting on 13 year old Hit-Girl and watching her play with a butterfly knife and cussing at the criminals that are easily defeated.

It is poignant that this was Matthew Vaughn's first time directing a film. Even though the movie is rated R it has a feel of a teenie bopper film from the mid 90s, with the main character (Aaron Johnson) going through the frustrations of puberty. Which is not what one wants to be subjected to with a film labeled Kick-Ass.
