Old World taste meets New World appeal at Cascal. This vibrant restaurant concept brings the traditions of Spain, with its savory flavors and warm hospitality, together with the exotic culture of Latin America--the land of sexy cocktails, music, and epicurean delights.
Creator Don Durante, whose past successes include the award winning Le Mouton Noir, and the Silicon Valley icon, Birk's, wanted to create a restaurant where he himself would enjoy spending an evening lingering with friends over exotic cocktails and enticing foods with bold flavors and personality.

There aren't many Spanish tapa restaurants around so I was pretty excited to hear about one near me.
I LOVE their Spanish tapas sampler. The price was decent ($23) and it had a great selection of items like octopus salad, tuna & carrot salad, pate, potato cake, muscles, etc. The sampler was more than enough to share amongst our small group of 3.
The rest of the food on the menu was, in my opinion, overpriced and oversized for our group of 3. Actually, some items were small considering the price. We ordered taquitos which was basically 3 small pieces for $9, a cream crab and corn soup which was small and tasted decent for $8, calamari which was okay for $10, two sopes for $9. The waiter didn't mention a dessert menu so we missed dessert. Oh well. In the end, the 3 of us spent $75 and although we were full, we didn't feel like we had enough variety.
The service was okay. The decor was lovely. We went to the restaurant on a Saturday night without any reservations and we were able to get an outdoor table immediately, the wait for a table indoors was 45 min. We ended up sitting outside near the heated lamps and enjoying the fresh air.
I think with the price and sizing of the tapas here, this place is better suited for groups of 4+.

I went here with my girlfriend for Valentine's day this year (We had been hearing from friends it was great) and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We had the specials for the day, so I can't comment with great authority on the regular menu, but if it was half as good as the specials, you would be doing yourself a disservice to not try it at least once.
This place is always packed, so if you are looking for an intimate, quite spot to eat, you wont find it here, but you wont exactly be rubbing elbows with the other patrons either. It will be busy though.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Tapas are a fun way to eat because they force you to explore new flavors and combinations you wouldn't have thought to try. They also have a delightful outdoor area for when the weather's nice.

One of the hottest spots in Mountain View, this place is always busy. The flavors are wonderful, if a little pricey.
