Built in 1925, l'Olympia de Montréal immediately found itself to be one of Montreal's most precious cultural and architectural treasures. For many years, its main vocation was that of ‘cinematic theatre' and the remnants of those days still lend an unmistakable quality to the hall. There is a strong sense of past that mingles with the unmatched joyous ambiance of today.
Its privileged location (near Berri-UQAM metro) helps in making it one of the city's most easily accessible theatres.
The walls seem to echo with the voices of the great Québécois and international performers, from Gilles Vigneault to Tori Amos and all of those who have passed in between, such as Daniel Bélanger, Claude Léveillé, Georges Brassens, Loreena McKennit and Les Ritas Mitsouko. On top of being a shrine to music, L'Olympia de Montréal also helped broaden cultural horizons by welcoming the most prestigious crowd of Québec's comics (Louis-José Houde, Daniel Lemire, Lise Dion, Clémence Desrochers, Jean-Michel Anctil and many others). There are also many important theatrical endeavours that graced its stage, such as Broue, Québec's champion play of comic theatre, which has ran for over seventeen years.
It is also the perfect place for all sorts of corporate events as well as business reunions, broadcasts, conferences and benefits events.
Recently taken by a new administration concerned about maintaining this unique outstanding acoustics, L'Olympia de Montréal offers its diverse array of services and tailors them to suit your events.
According to no less an authority than the RIAA, Boyz II Men are the most commercially successful R&B group of all time. They've sold ludicrous numbers of records and been involved in three of the longest-running number one pop singles in history, and they've done it as a unit of equals....
Initially regarded as one of the most promising rappers to emerge in the late '90s, Mos Def turned to acting in subsequent years as music became a secondary concern for him. He did release new music from time to time, including albums such as The New Danger (2004), but his output was erratic and seemingly governed by whim....
Though he was born in Chicago, the DJ, A&R director, record store owner, and producer known as Kaskade found his spiritual and musical home in San Francisco by way of Salt Lake City and New York. One of the hardest-working people in the San Francisco house scene, he's Kaskade the house music producer/DJ by night; by day he's Ryan Raddon, A&R director for OM Records....
Keane's piano-driven pop/rock is created by vocalist Tom Chaplin, drummer Richard Hughes, and pianist Tim Rice-Oxley, three childhood friends from the small town of Battle in East Sussex, England. Formed in 1997, the group started out as a college-aged cover band....
Marillion emerged from the short-lived progressive rock revival of the early '80s to become one of the most enduring cult acts of the era. The group formed in Aylesbury, England, in 1979, and adopted its original name, Silmarillion, from the title of a J....
A genre- and gender-defying mix of rock, pop, and dance inspired by burlesque, drag queens, and glam rock, New York's Scissor Sisters made a splash in late 2003/early 2004 with their neon-bright reimagining of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," the B-side to the band's first single, "Electrobix....
Fiona Apple defied categorization or any easy career path, almost running the pattern in reverse, opening her career as a highly touted and popular alternative singer/songwriter then transitioning into a cult artist....
Met future Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler in junior high, and the two formed a band called Road Crew. High-school classmates included Lenny Kravitz and future Lone Justice singer Maria McKee. Knew such rock-and-roll luminaries as David Bowie and Joni Mitchell as a child due to his parents: his mom was a costume designer and his dad created album covers....
Gerry Dee began his comedy career in a very different fashion. The son of Scottish immigrant parents, Gerry was born in Scarborough, Ontario and grew up in Toronto. He currently splits his time between living in Los Angeles and Toronto....
Chanteuse Patricia Kaas was born in France's Lorraine region, where she began performing as a youth; by age 11, she even held a residency at the Rumpelkammer Club in Sarrebrucken, Germany, over time honing a distinct style updating the French chanson tradition with elements of pop, blues and jazz....
