Welcome to the Varsity.
You may have heard of us, or even been here for a show. The biggest thing you need to know about the Varsity is that it can be anything to anybody. Just give us a few hours and we can change the Varsity in to something completely different. We do have a few specialties though.
We are becoming known for being one of the best music clubs in the Midwest. Our sound & lighting systems are top notch. The vibe and comfort level at the Varsity is second to none.
Live theater is also wonderful in the Varsity. We have the capabilities of doing large full blown stage musicals, or small dramas in-the-round. Our technical capabilities don't stop with music, we have some of the best gear of any small theater in the Twin Cities.
Our newest specialty has become hosting special events such as weddings, fundraising events, and employee appreciation dinners. The Varsity is like no other room that you can rent for your special event. If you want to blow away your guests with something completely different and amazing, call us about booking the Varsity for your next special event.

Born and raised in Anderson, IN, singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin began taking classical piano lessons at an early age. Though he lost interest in the instrument during high school and was sidelined by an accident that injured both wrists, he rediscovered his talent during senior year and began incorporating his piano skills into soulful pop music....
The brash, bluesy, female-fronted quintet the Duke Spirit formed when singer/harmonica player Liela Moss met guitarist/keyboardist/singer Luke Ford at art school. Moss was studying photography and Ford painting, but the pair decided to ditch school and move to London to focus on their music....
Although his band may have slowly disappeared from the mainstream after making a grand splash, Chris Robinson and the Black Crowes cultivated a dedicated audience that ensured they would go down as one of the most respected and well-liked roots rockers of the '90s....
Hailing from Orlando, FL, Anberlin formed from the ashes of various other area projects, including the Christian punk outfit SaGoh (Servants After God's Own Heart). Led by the soaring vocals of Stephen Christian, the positive-thinking Anberlin also included Joseph Milligan (guitar), Nathan Young (drums), Joey Bruce (guitar), and Deon Rexroat (bass), and presented an alternative pop/rock sound that, while inflected with the earnestness of emo, was closer to the mature stylings of Third Eye Blind....
Matt Nathanson doesn't waste any time setting the tone for his transfixing new album, Some Mad Hope. Diving headlong into a sea of chiming guitars, the San Francisco-based singer-songwriter breathlessly declares "I'm wide awake and so alive" -- the opening lines of "Car Crash" serving as a statement of emotional clarity that permeates the disc's every groove....
With his high-pitched vocals and prolific songwriting, singer Anthony Green had a hand in many bands throughout the 1990s and 2000s, including Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, Saosin, Circa Survive, the Sound of Animals Fighting, and several smaller projects....
Howard Jones was one of the defining figures of mid-'80s synth pop. Jones' music merged the technology-intensive sound of new wave with the cheery optimism of hippies and late-'60s pop. Jones racked up a string of hits in the mid- and late '80s before he retreated into being a cult figure in the '90s....
The Promise Ring were one of the most popular emo bands of the '90s, epitomizing the poppier, more accessible wing of the style. Along with Sunny Day Real Estate, the Get Up Kids, Braid, and Jimmy Eat World, they helped bring emo from the punk underground to a wider indie rock audience in the latter half of the decade....
Best known for his appearances on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Greg is also a regular on the long running British version of WLIIA. Mr. Proops' other television appearances include The Drew Carey Show, The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Just Shoot Me, Talk Soup, Politically Incorrect, The Wayne Brady Show and Hollywood Squares....
