Presenter-participants:
Linda Gensheimer, PhD and Cynthia Packer, Liscw will present Secondary Traumatic Stress: Building Resilience for Professionals. We invite professionals who work with traumatized children, youth and families to join us for presentations and small group conversations discussing adaptability and health maintenance. Participants will learn to integrate practices that help diminish the negative impact of secondary traumatic stress. Presenters embody a wide range of professional experience with survivors of political violence and torture, generational and historical trauma, and vicarious trauma experienced by school professionals.
Participants will learn to:
Identify meaningful ways of talking about feelings and experiences related to secondary trauma.
Learn ways to build your resilience as you work with people who have experienced trauma.
Compare and contrast secondary traumatic stress interventions from individual and organizational perspectives.
Audience:
This seminar content is applicable for professionals who work with traumatized children, youth, and families. The target audience includes: teachers, child protection workers, law enforcement, nurses, physicians, psychotherapists, and social workers.
Participants will receive 3 continuing Education Units for Social workers, Psychologists, RNs, Child Welfare workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists.
