I went to the concert with an open mind after my girlfriend booked us the tickets for the show. It was a windy night but a fun night out is always great. I come from a different culture so I am open to different types of cultures and music more then the average joe.The first part of the concert was fun, entertaining and something I has not experienced before. The group has a a great talent in vocals and the mix of all together creates a great harmony of sounds that is intriguing to watch and hear.
I am jewish and traditionally celebrate Chanukah if at all. I do enjoy the Christmas holidays season for all the festive feel and joy it has to offer (and the presents). I don't view it as a religious holiday that is designed only for one group to enjoy - on the contrary, I feel a part of it and therefor I chose to join this festive night at the Disney Hall. All the Christmas songs were fun to listen to and I don't get "offended" or otherwise by lyrics glorifying Jesus one way or the other. At the end of the day he was jewish just like me.
The problem I had with the concert was the surprising introduction of politics towards the end of the show. The "speech" about unity, politics, patriotism and supporting our president should have been left out of the Disney Hall. The statements about the proposed health Care reforms should not be apart of the show. "We should all have the same health coverage as the Congress" - WTF?! I care less what the performers think about any of the political issues at hand, I doubt that they have enough understanding of the issues to stand in-front of an audience and make public speeches. Either way they should have shown more professionalism and kept the show to what they are getting paid for. Shame on them and the producers of the show for allowing this to happen. I will not be going to hear them again and I will make sure everyone I know will know what they are in for if they ever thinking about going to one of those concerts. If I wanted to be a part of a propaganda event I would join one - and not sucked into paying for one. I wish I could get my money back ! Oh wait - my girlfriend paid for it - I wish SHE could get HER money back !
