From Here to Her: Community Workshop Day Morning Program

In celebration of Women’s History Month and in collaboration with Studio Lounge’s From Here To Her art exhibit, Alverno College is hosting a day of interactive learning for women in the community. The exhibit’s theme, which questions how feminine beauty and worth are defined in our culture, will be applied across workshop topics ranging from activism to art history.
Because space is limited, we kindly ask that you register online only when you’re sure you’re able to attend.
A discretionary donation… Show more to arts-based youth nonprofit True Skool will be collected at check-in on the day of the event as your registration fee. $5 to 15 is recommended, but not required. Light snacks will be provided and refreshments will be available for purchase.

10:30-10:45: Check-in and welcome 10:45-11:45: Photo-Editing and Unreal Perfection 11:45-noon: Break Noon - 1:00: Sex, Lies and What the Mirror Doesn’t See
Photo-Editing and Unreal Perfection : Jill Moore — professional photographer and Professor of Communications (Alverno) — will show you the inside tricks make-up artists and photo-editors use to make regular people look unrealistically amazing and talk about why looking "amazing" by media standards isn’t such a great idea.
Sex, Lies and What the Mirror Doesn’t See : Beth Monhollen — writer, director, veteran actor and founding member of Wind-Up Dolls, a feminist theatre company (1994-2003) — will use her experience to lead an interactive, theatrical monologue about feminine beauty and identity.
