Unity Through the Arts A Celebration of Black History Month with James Henry and Guests

Friday, Feb 22, 2013 8:00p
Throckmorton Theatre Mill Valley, CA

In 1926 Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson, a black historian from Kentucky who earned a Ph.D. from Harvard, established what is now celebrated as Black History Month.

Tonight, in celebration of the traditions of African American Heritage, James Henry has put together music and dance by Steel Pan & African dancers to chronicle the journey of the African American people: Classic Jazz of the 1920's, Be Bop of the 1940s, Mainstream 1950s, Bossa Nova 1960s, Afro-Cuban 1980s, and Jazz Rap 2000s.
