New World Center

In less than two decades, the New World Symphony has become a leading cultural institution in South Florida, generating audiences and critical acclaim around the world. Our local impact has been profound, with more than 60 annual performances, 15 percent of them free to the public. NWS brings to Miami many of the leading classical soloists, composers, and conductors of this era.

NWS also bridges the gap left by drastic cuts to arts education budgets of Miami-Dade schools. School children can attend rehearsals for a first-hand look at how a musical performance takes shape. NWS exposes this high level of artistry and creativity to more than 200 classrooms in 40 local schools annually, in addition to providing free music lessons and mentoring to promising young musicians.

In keeping with the New World Symphony’s community commitment, the New World Center is a private/public partnership with Miami Dade County and the City of Miami Beach. This facility exists at the heart of the City Center Redevelopment Project, a joint venture to inject new vitality into the downtown neighborhood of Miami Beach’s 17th Street Corridor, located just two blocks from the ocean on Lincoln Road, behind Lincoln Road Mall. The City of Miami Beach will build a parking garage and 2-acre public park adjacent to the campus.

The success of Art Basel Miami Beach, the opening of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, and the construction of Museum Park all point to a new era for Miami. The New World Symphony will build on this momentum, as a region once best known for sun and surf becomes a world-class cultural destination.
