SON Volt / Cowboy JUNKIES
Cowboy Junkies and Son Volt, whose earliest recordings were
instrumental in shaping what became known as alternative country music, will be sharing the stage this summer in a series of co-headlining dates. Inspired by the music of Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and others, Cowboy Junkies introduced the seminal album, The Trinity Session, into the musical lexicon in the late 1980's, an album which was pivotal in alt-country's evolution. At the same time, Son Volt founder Jay Farrar's pioneering band Uncle Tupelo was setting the bar for an emerging country rock renaissance. Cowboy Junkies' Michael Timmins says "We are very excited about our summer run with Son Volt. Jay Farrar has mined many of the same sources of inspiration that we have, so it should make for a great night of music."
