Stephen's On State

We had a great night in Media, All starting with a fine dinner at Stephen's. We went on a Friday evening and were seated immediately. The table we got sat all by itself in little space between dining rooms. It was quite intimate. We were approched in short order with bread & water and they took our drink order. We had no less than four servers come to aour table to check on us, take away dishes or dilerver food or dinks. Everything from the cocktails through the deserts were excellent. Our steakes were done to perfection. The deserts were to die for and the coffee was made fresh. The table service was terrific and the waitress was very friendly and informative The bar was very active as we were leaving. We strolled the streets of Media after that and enjoyed the many shops and clubs within walking distance. All in all, a very enjoyable experience!

Went to Stephan’s on state in Media this past Friday night. I read these reviews before we went to form my own opinion, besides I had a couple gift certs to use for the place. I am soooo glad I didn’t pay attention to these reviews. The place was great. We were seated right away and our drink order was taken. Bread was brought to our table not a minute later. Valerie our server was informative, friendly and courteous. We could not have asked for a better waitress. And no I do not know her personally nor have I ever been to this restaurant. The table we sat at was a little dimly lit but I am not complaining, it added to the ambiance I will actually ask for this table when I go back, they had quite a few tables that were amply lit, so I don’t know where that other reviewer sat.
Now the food was most excellent. The Calamari with the Tiy sauce was really really good. My husband had a glass of the house wine that he said was pretty good for a house wine and believe me he knows his wine. We ordered Steaks for dinner, and they were done perfectly, the mashed potatoes were awesome. We even had desert, and we never really do desert, but figured if the everything else was this good then the deserts should be wonderful. We were not disappointed!
All in all I will definitely go back to Stephan’s on state it may become one of our favorite places to go. Well worth the trip from philly to Media.

The atmosphere was pretty nice but there were bugs flying around (NEAR MY FOOD AND ALONG THE RIM OF MY WINE GLASS... that was ultimately disgusting. Its pricey but the food is NOT worth the money spent. My fiance and I were not impressed by the service at all either. For being categorized as a "Steak House" according to this site, I would NOT suggest the beef. My fiance and I both ordered steaks and agreed that we probably would find something better at a chain restaurant.

If you want to waste your money, go ahead and eat here but I guarantee you'll be just as disappointed as we were.

My husband I have been to Stephen's several times. The food is absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are very nice. I had Tilapia the last time we were there (it was so delicious!)and my husband always gets the Chicken Stephen. The decor is pretty and the bar area is nice and they have live music which is we love. My only complaint is that they keep the lights down really low so it's hard to read the menu. Besides that, I'd give it an A+

I go to Stephen's pretty regularly for lunch with a friend who works in Media. For a while, we went somewhere new everytime we would meet up but once we went to Stephen's we never went anywhere else! They have excellent pizzas and wraps. I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the Shrimp Diablo pizza...delish! The only reason I gave 4.5 out of 5 stars is that the service, while friendly and courteous, is particularly slow. This is my only complaint though and will not stop me from going again and again!
