Make an Appalachian Dulcimer

In four days over two weekends, the student in this class will construct a high-quality Appalachian dulcimer from select solid woods.

These are not kits. Students will have a selection of woods from which to choose, and will further customize their instruments with several design options: exact dimensions of the instrument, hourglass or teardrop shape, three or four (or five) strings, and the design of the sound holes and the tuning head.
