CANCELLED: Classic Ballroom December Dance 2012

Come dancing at Classic Ballroom's February Dance held 8-10:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month on the 7,000 square foot hardwood floor at Allyn Scott Youth and Community Center, 1830 B St., Marysville, in partnership with Friday Night Live.

Admission to these smoke-, drug- and alcohol-free evenings filled with fun, friends, good music and healthy activity is only $5 per person. Singles and couples of all ages are welcome. The Allyn Scott facility offers ample off-street parking.

Each… Show more month features a different step: March, Hustle; April, East Coast Swing; May, Cha-Cha; June-August, summer break; September, West Coast Swing; October, Salsa; November, Foxtrot; December, Nighclub Two Step. An optional one hour pre-dance lesson in the featured step is available at 7 p.m. for $5 per person.

Classic Ballroom is one of the programs under Friday Night Live and consists of a series of ballroom dances presented monthly during the fall, winter and spring.

These events are typically scheduled on the second Saturday of each month and begin with a one hour lesson (optional) followed by 2-1/2 or three hours of general dancing to prerecorded music.

Occasionally, a short exhibition is presented. All events are organized and operated by volunteer dance enthusiasts, and all events are maintained smoke-, drug- and alcohol-free.

Music is programmed to maintain a balanced ballroom mix, which primarily includes Fox Trot, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Rhumba, Tango and East Coast Swing (because of the recent explosion of interest in Swing). Secondary emphasis is given to Night Club Two Step, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Mambo, Samba, Salsa, Merengue, Bolero, West Coast Swing, Hustle, and Polka.

We continually strive to improve these events, and to further that end, we invite ideas and suggestions from participants.
