Federal law requires that contractors that perform renovation, repair, and painting activities have a “Certified Renovator” be assigned to each job, and that all involved individuals are trained in the use of lead-safe work practices. Non-compliance penalties are $37,400.
To become a Certified Renovator, a person must complete a 1 day renovator training course from a training company accredited by the EPA.
