2nd Saturdays: Celebrate 'Juneteenth' at Historic Stagville
"Juneteenth" is the date the last enslaved people were freed in the 1860s. Stagville will celebrate emancipation and the African-American culture through free music, demonstrations, crafts, games and food from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at this historic plantation.
The Bare Theatre Players perform 30-minute slave narratives, "Let Them Be Heard," in the slave cabins at 7, 7:30, 8 and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.
The N.C. Department of Cultural Resources sponsors "2nd Saturdays" summer programs statewide.
